It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.
