One 60-day cruise through the Land Down Under was terminated in the wake of the death of an senior female passenger who was stranded by the vessel on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the tropical location with other travelers from the cruise ship, but broke off from the excursion for a break. The ship departed without her and returned several hours later after the crew realised the lady was not present.

A major hunt located her body the following day.

Officials are investigating the incident, alongside investigators and the state coroner.

Head of the cruise operator announced that travelers and personnel on the ship were told that the rest of the cruise had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

Via official communication, he further stated that guests would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to coordinate the travel back of the individuals via private aircraft".
