European Leaders Condemn US Action as ‘Intimidation’
Officials from Europe including the French president charged Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, after the visa restrictions targeted figures who have been central to campaigns to introduce laws governing American tech companies.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to pressure American platforms to punish US perspectives they disagree with,” stated the US secretary of state in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”

Nations including Germany, Spain, and the UK, alongside numerous EU representatives supported France in criticizing the move.
The bans were imposed on Tuesday on a former EU commissioner who helped draft the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), along with several anti-disinformation campaigners, from Germany and the United Kingdom.
