From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could help the party access places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
